You might think there’s something on every week – and there almost always is! – so, why is this Saturday Night Swing so special?
It’s our Annual PURIM PARTY!
What is it and why is it such a big shindig?
It’s a traditionally Jewish festival which is meant to celebrate the deliverance of the Jewish people living in the Persian Empire. Their salvation was secured by Esther, who foresaw Haman’s plot to annihilate them and with her determination, convinced the Emperor to save her people.

It’s our Annual Swinging Valentine’s Bash and we’ll have everything from dance and DJing to Westie and candy!
Flying solo?
Forget Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club band: join your friends and enjoy yourself! No one wants to see you at home alone eating a tub of Hagen Daz in front of Casablanca. At Swing Dynamite, we often say you don’t need a partner… It applies here too! It’s not because it’s traditionally a couples’ holiday that you shouldn’t have fun. Actually, FUN is our business and we make it a priority! Come out, enjoy some rocking tune (and ok- maybe a few cute ones too).
Hey, we’re not taking Cupid’s job, but sparks sometimes fly on our dance floor!

Also, the Ottawa swing community is sad to be saying goodbye to one of its amazing follows. Come bid a (temporary) farewell to the delightful Clare Hopkins who will soon be off to Vietnam for new adventures! Make sure to jam her and show her the love!

our annual Ottawa SHAG EXPLOSION! It’s a weekend full of workshops,
dances, classes and chances to meet great people! From Friday to
Sunday it’s just one big party.
WHAT’S SHAG?
Before the Lindy Hop, the big swing dance crazy across
America was the Shag. It’s a subtle dance of footwork, kicks and cool
moves you just can’t do in other swing dance styles. Also, the big
benefit: being able to ask someone, “wanna Shag?”
GET BACK IN SHAPE!
Shag is a dynamic, athletic swing dance style that
will get your feet moving! Just one weekend of Shag dancing will make
you feel like all the holiday lounging and eating is forgotten–you’ll
