Thoughts and news about swing dancing in Ottawa

A short little piece of choreography has been sweeping the West Coast Swing world recently. Choreographed by WCS teachers Damon and Lisa D’Amico of Houston, Texas, this routine was made to look cool yet be fairly easy to learn even by people who don’t know much West Coast Swing.

Ever since we started running Saturday Night Swing, it’s been our dream to run dances with both Lindy Hop AND WCS every week. We started the Double Trouble nights a few years ago, back when WCS dances in Ottawa were only a monthly thing, to give people a chance to do more WCS social dancing. Over the past few years we’ve been very excited to see attendance building up at our Saturday Night Swing dances every week, with the Lindy Hop room bursting with energy and now the Westie Lounge building up a strong attendance too. You may have heard whispers or even checked our 2011 calendar and gotten the hint that there would be a lot more WCS dances next year. If so, I can confirm the rumours…
We’re proud to announce that as of January 2011, we’ll be running both rooms every week! Our goal is to make sure that both the vintage swing lovers and the Westie/Hustle lovers get their weekly fix!
This improvement will definitely require some extra work and adaptation, so we ask for your patience through this latest transition, but we think you’ll like the end result!
Stay tuned for more details ![]()
